Who are we?

Firstly we are not a political
party in any way, we are , the majority of us, concerned parents.
During the consultation process
for the reorganisation of secondary education in Barrow, a few very concerned
parents and grandparents agreed that we couldn't sit back and do nothing about
the proposals to close Thorncliffe, Parkview and Alfred Barrow schools. We
grew to about 10 people consisting of mainly parents, grandparents and others
who felt strongly about this issue. We met weekly throughout this time and
have so far challenged the County Council on every aspect of the
consultation and preliminary decision.
We have a petition totaling almost 6,000 signatures against the academy.
We continue to issue press releases and give media interviews to keep Barrow
as informed as we can about what we believe is really happening.
We have formal complaints in with the County Council and Local Government
Ombudsman and have a legal team from Manchester working on a Judicial Review
on our behalf against the County Council.
Since the cabinet preliminary
decision on 5th February to pursue a single academy, our support has grown
enormously. Its not too late and it certainly is not a done deal. Please be a
part of our fight against this proposal. Browse this site and register your
interest. We will put you on our distribution list and keep you informed with
what is happening.
Thank you for your support. |
